The sun is considered one of the most important symbols in the Zuni culture.  The Sun brings prosperity and joy to families and playfulness to children.  The Sun affords
the Zuni good luck and good fortune.  Thus, the Sun is often represented in their jewelry.  The Sunface is most often represented in full circle surrounded by a fully symmetrical feather like design.  This design is most commonly associated with the eagle, thus, the Sunface is both wise and powerful  The center represents the Sun.  The forehead is most typically split in two
sections which represents pairing oneself with the family.  The eyes are represented by long rectangular shapes and are windows to the soul.  The mouth is round representing the cycle of life and death.
The stones used are Turquoise, Jet, Coral, and white MOP.  The stones are set on a foundation of heavy gauge sterling silver.
The inlay is very smooth to the touch, no highs or lows.
I have hand polished these earrings with a soft polishing cloth.  Sterling silver will become dark and can be polished to a brilliant shine time
after time - that is the beauty of sterling.
As you can tell from the photos these are in beautiful pre-owned condition.
